International Asset Search

At Rushmore, we are experts at conducting International Asset Searches. Our clients’ relief at finding hidden assets is particularly encouraging and we are passionate about helping people when they most need it.

Rushmore is based in Australia and conducts searches across all continents of the world. We rely on both online and offline techniques and can provide results in a relatively short period of time (2 to 3 weeks generally).

Whilst we are experienced at conducting international asset searches, we are also constantly keeping up with regulatory developments in the countries that we most commonly search and we often conduct a search in new jurisdictions. We also find that our network of colleagues in overseas countries changes over time.

What fees are involved for an international asset search?

Before we start an engagement, we require a $US 500 deposit. This can be made by either bank transfer or by credit card (MasterCard and Visa are accepted).

What are the next steps following the payment of a deposit?

After we have received the initial deposit and instructions we will commence the search. The next steps really depend upon the jurisdiction. We will prepare a detailed estimate of costs and in some cases quote a fixed fee to provide the work. In many locations around the world, we will instruct a local attorney to conduct the search on our behalf. This is becuase the attorney may need to search a government departments’ records in person and review the documentation in a foreign language.

We liaise with the attorney and they send the results across to us. Once we are satisfied with the results we will then prepare a short report or email to you the client.

We always ensure that we obtain as much information as we can and endeavour to provide the information in a form that will be acceptable by a court in the jurisdiction that you are based. However not all international asset searches relate to court proceedings and we will tailor the reporting to your needs.

Can you find information about a persons’ bank accounts that they hold?

This is a common question we receive in relation to international asset searches and as a general rule we are unable to find information about a persons’ bank account unless the information has been provided in a public forum like the internet or has been provided as a result of a subpoena or voluntary disclosure. However there are indirect means of discovering another bank account through money tracing and we can provide assistance in that regard.

What are the most common types of assets that you find on behalf of your clients?

Without a doubt, we have the best results locating businesses, corporations, and real property on behalf of our clients. We have less success with other assets that are not as heavily regulated.
